The Yemen story  is the so-called Salibi-hypothesis. Salibi, a Lebanese scholar, has written interesting books about this problem. He convincingly pointed out, that there is a cluster of place names in the Asir province, that was conquered by the Saudis, that would fit into the biblical story. But the problem is, that Semitic place names are just like: medina = town and so on. If you  look long enough on a map of any place in the Middle East, you will find similar clusters. I prefer a cluster in the region between Turkey and Syria. There are lot of Neo-Hittite inscriptions with Aramaic translations about the kings of this region during the early Iron age (ca. 900 to 600) and for example one king is called Azarya, who rules a country called Yahudia. But the American archaeologists call this country now Samal, to hide any similarity to the biblical story.


But at least after the Babylonian exile, there were some Jews, who understood the Torah politically, "returned" to "Jerusalem" and founded a Jewish state.

If we go even deeper to the history then we have here Biblical story about Canaanites, the arch enemies of Israelites. According the Bible Canaanites were wiped out. But recent scientific findings prove not only that direct descendants of Canaanites live today in the region, mainly in Lebanon but in other places, as Syria as well, but also that Canaanites and Israelites were, actually, the same people. And here we have interesting twist because, originally, semitic nations were all the nations living in the region, regardless their ethnic or religious bacground.
