In my opinion, this was someone who learned some half-truths and drew the wrong conclusions. He may have been a right-wing extremist run amok, but he was not a right-wing extremist terrorist. It seems to me rather that he did not cope with the truth psychologically/mentally, otherwise he would not have killed his mother and himself as well. (If he was it at all himself, with so-called terror attacks there are always suicides, accidents etc. afterwards).
Apparently, they urgently need new right-wing terrorists. It is actually ridiculous that the Attorney General is called in 12 hours after the crime. Here in Germany he only acts on the orders of the Minister of the Interior. The desperate act of an ideologically misguided person is to be turned into a political issue.

But it can not be changed "top-down", only in some kind of "grassroots revolution" or better "evolution" where more and more people work together to get rid of TPTB (whoever that is).
No need for a "big event" but development. One of my ideas to reach it: Don't play "their" games - don't use "their" rules - don't think in the box of "their" paradigms.
It's more "refuse" than "resist" - without too much ideology. You don't need to know much about "what's going on behind the curtains", it's mainly to create your own rules together with like-minded people.

No wonder why US looking for a peace deal with the Taliban as they know the Taliban spring offensive starting in late march is going to be hell. Even if the Taliban sign a deal with the US Iran still has the hazara shia militias in Afghanistan to use against US.
