there is a very real chance of "lasting damage" in many sectors, according to Bloomberg
But do not forget, a good part of the current figures is the correction of the former "Windows Dressing", see our economic topics in the forum. Remember the pictures of new cars on stockpile as one of the visible signs that there was already an overproduction crisis. "Corona" only accelerated everything, not caused it. As of today, the U.S. “Caesar Act” has begun. Almost all Syrian government institutions have sanctioned, including the Central Bank.

Looks like Turkey and Iran are going to try to cut off supplies from Iraq going into Syria for the SDF. Benefits Assad as sooner or later Assad is going to have to move against the SDF so he needs them weakened first.

US is deeply rooted in Iraqi-Kurdistan. It would be interesting to see a "korridor" from Iran to Syria through Kurdistan and all the American bases (like the University US built there) destroyed. Then Syria could be supported over land and not by oil tankers.
And I have the bad feeling, US and Israel want to send Egyptian troops into the Gezira (east of Euphrates).

Would be a terrible move by Egypt as Iran would start sending cargo planes full of weapons to the GNA alongside Turkey and might even order Hamas and PIJ in Gaza to join hands with Sinai militants to attack Egypt.

Czech newsweb wrote that military border guards, as part of previous de-escalation attamptes, are not equipped with fire arms. This can explain wha it was hand to hand combat with clubs and stones.

Still I see this really bizzare as Turkish backed GNA militants are the same one Iran fights against in Syria and on its own doorsteps. Closely tied to Al-Qaeda and ISIS, wahhabism and salafism.

I fully agree with you, it would be terrible. But up to now, it is just a feeling. There was a piece of information some time ago, that the Egyptian action in Libya would be paralleled by a similiar action East of Euphrates. But for now, as-Sisi is only empowered to use Egyptian military in Libya and Ethiopia. But still there is some Egyptian navy action against Yemen.

Not really hard to understand Iran hates UAE and Egypt more than it hates Muslim brotherhood as UAE lobbied for Iran to be sanctioned along with saudi Arabia and Israel and Egypt helps Israel lay siege to Gaza.

Last not least, Iranians are not Arabs. Persians had already two empires before the Arabs defeated them at Ktesiphon. Since the Abbasid revolution the Persians try to get rid of the Arabs. The Persians have an old culture, the Arabs are desert dwellers....
