If Putin banned 11 opposition parties under the pretext of war, just as Zelensky has done today,
Western media would be likening it to a Stalinesque purge.

Dont spend all day on the computer or watching the tv its a trap, make sure you do some exercise, eat as healthy as is possible and most importantly regularly communicate with regular human beings, dont worry about the worst until it comes, which it may well not,but if it does you have to be mentally, spiritually and physically as healthy as possible.

I'm old enough to remember 9/11 and the invasion of Iraq. The media atmosphere now is very similar.
Anything the White House and intelligence agencies say, the news outlets report as fact.
Any and all dissent will be dismissed as collaborating with the enemy and crushed.

I am not a computer specialist, but I think, if you just collect the links, they all link to nothing, but if you download it completely and save it separate from the net, it won't be gone. But anyhow, the internet and the computer depends on electricity, so if there is a power outage for a longer time, you can forget your computer anyhow (and your fridge). For me the symbol of this is the development: grammophone, LP player, audiofiles on the computer. During WW II you could listen to music even after an air-raid, even during a power outage, or somewhere in the woods, because a grammophone is mechanical. You would need to destroy every single grammophone or schellack to stop the people (you would need to burn every single book). But now you just need to hit the power plant and it is done. This is no progress.

I agree to some extent but we shouldn't forget that there are solar panels and accumulators. I'm currently thinking about buying an "island solar system", i.e. a system that is not connected to the main grid. But they are quite expensive and I need to read up on that stuff first.

I agree.I do not pretend to be any great intellect but I have read and digested people who were from Plato through Tesla.I have collected a large library for a civilian that covers everything from first aid through food growing and preservation, and survival should the power go out,if I don't know it at least I know where it is in a physical book.I have UHF,shortwave and a radio that covers am/fm/digital that uses a dynamo for power,if you dont have a physical library you may want to buy or download now while there is still a little time left, complete control of the narrative is coming and then such information may well be prohibited.

We will all pay for our over-reliance on tech. I miss the 80's for the relative simplicity of life:
My job paid weekly in cash.
Didn't need or want a bank account.
Shopping meant going out and using shops (back when we still had a high street that sold everything we needed.)
We phoned friends or called round for them. I used to love writing and receiving letters from pen friends. I had a friend in California who used to send me lots of glitter and bits and bobs in her letters.
Used to always go to my local library, and frequented book shops.
...and I'm starting to sound like one of those silly "If you grew up in the 70s and 80s" posts on social media
Change started in the early 90s; suddenly everyone had to have a bank account in order to get paid...monthly (I just used to pull my entire months wages out of the bank on pay day and stuff it in my wallet). Then it was mobile phones, then the internet. ( I had internet briefly in 2001-2 but then got rid of it because I found it a distraction.)
Now I'm at the point where I don't ever see cash, the high streets have been destroyed by the "big box" stores, retail parks and the internet. I see the Millenials on down not socialising in person and just forming online relationships. Three quarters of Englands pubs are gone - the one place I used to always be able to socialise.
It's like we've been forcibly divided and our social fabric deliberately torn apart. And the alternative is social media which is heavily censored and used as vehicles to push agendas. We are less human by the day. I'd happily give up all this tech and travel back 35-40 years.
Rambling rant over, and I haven't even touched a beer!

I honestly think in 50 years the whole planet will be wrapped in black and yellow safety tape and warning signs.
We are the last generation familiar with some concept of freedom, the current generation would not know what it is Im afraid.
