I'd say you need a lot of patriotism to buy that expensive garbage called apple. My daughter got an ipod as present and used it only less than half a year, then returned to her cheap mp3-player, much more memory, cheaper and easier to upload songs, especially from CDs.

Re: #33 - Main news thread - conflicts, terrorism, crisis from around the globe
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-whistleblower/trump-pressured-ukraine-president-to-investigate-biden-reports-idUSKBN1W51R0
►A classified Sept. 12 complaint from 'a whistleblower within the intelligence community' has sparked a political battle between Democrats warning of a national security threat and Republicans turning it into an attack on Biden; it alleged “multiple acts” by Trump, not just a phone call with a foreign leader.
►The July 25 call between Trump & Zelenskiy is under investigation by three Democratic-led House committees, who want to know if Trump and his personal lawyer, Rudolph Giuliani, tried to pressure the Ukrainian government into aiding Trump’s re-election campaign.
►The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that Trump urged Zelenskiy about eight times during the call to work with Giuliani to investigate Biden and Biden’s son. The Washington Post and New York Times also reported details of the call.
“It doesn’t matter what I discussed but I will say this: somebody ought to look into Joe Biden’s statement because it was disgraceful, where he talked about millions of dollars that he is not giving to a certain country unless a certain prosecutor is taken off the case. Somebody ought to look into that,”
►Biden said the reports about Trump’s pressure on the call - if true - showed the president abused his office for his own gain. Biden urged the White House to release a transcript of the call and allow Congress to hear from the whistleblower.
“Such clear-cut corruption damages and diminishes our institutions of government by making them tools of a personal political vendetta,” Biden said.
►News media reports that Trump threatened to withhold more than $250 million in security assistance approved by Congress for Kiev to aid its fight against Russian-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine.
►Giuliani said on CNN on Thursday he had asked the Ukrainian government to investigate Hunter Biden, the son of former Vice President Biden.
►“This is deadly serious,” Representative David Cicilline said on Twitter. “If the President does not allow the whistleblower complaint against him to be turned over to Congress, we will add it to the Articles of Impeachment.”

You are a bank. You can deposit your cash overnight with:

- the Fed for a 1.8% return
- another bank for up to 10% return
You pick the Fed, why? You don't think the other bank will repay you tomorrow.
Hey financial reporters: here is a Pulitzer story for you - find out which bank(s) are so starved for $75BN in cash they are using the Fed's stigmatizing overnight repo operation

90% Of Plastic Waste Polluting Earth's Oceans Comes From Asia and Africa
https://summit.news/2019/09/18/90-per-cent-of-plastic-waste-polluting-earths-oceans-comes-from-asia-and-africa/
Despite westerners being lectured by climate activists like Greta Thunberg, a study has found that around 90 per cent of plastic waste polluting earth’s oceans comes from Asia and Africa.
During her U.S. tour, Thunberg cited “horrifying pictures of plastic in the oceans,” as one of the primary reasons why Americans should listen to her.
However, researchers at Germany’s Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research discovered that a small number of rivers account for the vast majority of plastic pollution and none of them are located in western countries.
“The 10 top-ranked rivers transport 88-95 percent of the global load into the sea,” Dr. Christian Schmidt, a hydrogeologist who led the study, told the Daily Mail. “The rivers with the highest estimated plastic loads are characterized by high population – for instance the Yangtze with over half a billion people.”
Out of the top ten rivers that produce the most pollution,
eight are in Asia
two are in Africa.
The Yangtze River in China and the Ganges River in India were responsible for the most plastic pollution.
While westerners are being told to alter their lifestyles and have fewer children to save the planet, virtually nothing is being said about or to the people in the countries responsible for the vast majority of pollution.
This is probably one of the main reasons why many in the west remain skeptical about the true motives of the environmentalist movement.
As we reported earlier, only 38 per cent of Americans believe global warming is man made.

Biden with dementia? As Caitlin Johnstone writes there seem to be many hints to it.
I didn’t watch the last Democratic presidential primary debates because I figured that without Tulsi Gabbard in there shaking things up it would be a boring, vapid parade of insubstantial verbal foam....
What we’re consistently seeing over and over again from the former vice president now are not “gaffes”, but clear signs of cognitive decline.
Contrast the difference between Biden’s younger footage and what was seen at the last debate
with footage of Bernie Sanders throughout the decades, who has remained virtually identical save for appearance and hoarseness.
Age does not account for this difference. Biden’s brain is dying.
Biden was asked by debate moderator Linsey Davis to defend some comments he made about America’s problems with racism in the 1970s.
He responded by essentially saying that Black people don’t know how to raise their kids so they need to be taught how by social workers.
The brain that spouted the gibberish [transcribed] would probably score poorly on a basic test for the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease,
yet discussion of his inability to complete a coherent sentence is relegated to the margins of political discourse.
This is someone who is campaigning to have access to the nuclear codes, yet we’re only talking about how he’s kind of racist
and not about the fact that his brain is turning into Swiss cheese right before our eyes. It’s freaky.
Biden himself is clearly doing everything he can to feign mental competency.
As a powerful politician aiming to accomplish a lifelong ambition to become the US president
he’d certainly have a lot egoically invested in doing so.
his handlers
The only people who are absolutely acutely aware of Biden’s cognitive decline and yet still want him to become president are his handlers.
These people are aware that Biden is losing his mind, but they are pushing him toward the White House anyway.
Ronald Reagan had early signs of Alzheimer’s disease during his presidency according to his own son.
George W Bush was infamously just a puppet of his handlers like Dick Cheney.
Indeed it would be possible to have an actual, literal Jim Henson puppet as president of the United States without America’s unelected power establishment [DeepState] skipping a single beat.
No Brakes
But that’s exactly the point: having a real human being in there with even a semi-functional mind can put some inertia against the most sociopathic impulses of America’s unelected permanent government.
Both Trump and Obama are of course horrible presidents who have continued and expanded the Bush administration’s most evil agendas
but Obama slowed down the push to arm Ukraine against Russia and slammed the brakes on a full-scale bombing campaign on Syria,
while Trump was unable to get along with John Bolton and is losing interest in Venezuela while resisting the push to start new wars.
Despite all their flaws, they’ve resisted the permanent government’s worst impulses in some key ways.
If it’s just Biden’s handlers and the unelected power establishment, there’s no humanity anywhere near the brake pedal.

In mainstream discourse we’re speaking as though this is just a charmingly gaffe-prone old man who makes a few controversial statements from time to time but would still make a fine president, when really he shouldn’t even be allowed a driver’s license.
As someone who’s never been able to leave elephants in rooms alone, the fact that the leading presidential contender is neurologically incapable of speaking coherently for eighty seconds sticks out like dog’s balls and it’s absolutely freakish that this isn’t front and center of our political discourse right now. Biden’s dementia should be the very first thing we discuss whenever his name comes up, not the last.

Tehran is ready for “any scenario,” and remains determined to fight back “until the full destruction of any aggressor,” IRGC commander, Major General Hossein Salami, told reporters at a news conference on Saturday.
