That's the case for nearly 400,000 women in Hong Kong, 'helpers' who largely come from the Philippines and Indonesia.
Helpers are typically in charge of cleaning their employers' households,
buying groceries, cooking meals, caring for children and the elderly,
washing cars, doing laundry, pet care, helping w/ schoolwork and a range of other essential tasks.
For several decades, some helpers lived with their employers while others opted to live out --
but in 2003, the authorities made the live-in rule mandatory.
►50%+ said they worked between 11 and 16 hours per day
44% said they worked more than 16 hours
►29% said they weren't given enough food, which an employer is legally required to supply
►law mandates helpers must be given a full 24-hour rest day each week.. yet
-still are asked to clean the family cars before leaving to meet friends
-told to be home by 8 p.m. to clean dishes and help bathe the children.
►50%+ didn't have their own rooms
-had "alternative sleeping arrangements." (bathroom floors)
share a bunk bed with one of the family's children.
It sounds like slavery to me...

These criminal oligarchs are afraid under the rule of Beijing all these "helpers" would need a working visa. But Beijing would not agree to use foreigners for cheap labour.

In sector after sector, the quality of the goods and services has declined while costs have soared.
This is the acme of neofeudalism: insiders and the New Nobility are skimming fortunes
as prices skyrocket and the quality of the goods and services provided plummet.

for me it's simple: Examine any action taken.
Does it 'centralize' or 'de-centralize' power?
The Civil War centralized power to Bankers. to Industrialists. to Globalists.
(ignore the moral red herring of 'slavery').
We would have had an entirely different Country had the Confederacy won.
Maybe we'd be 'several' countries by now. I wouldn't mind at all.
The more that authority is de-centralized... the better.
(State sovereignty/State 'rights'/10th amendment)
The more government is 'localized'... the better. always.
Unfortunately however...
Tyranny is always better organized than Freedom.. and brutal.
“Government is not reason, it is not eloquence,—it is force.
Like fire, it is a dangerous servant, and a fearful master;"
-- our first President.
It's a tug of war. always.
