3) Meanwhile, @ThaiPBSNews reports that the Thai-Myanmar borders Chiang Rai are closed “until further notice”. No news from other crossings yet. Thai military officials say borders are already on high alert of “illegal crossers” because of #COVID19. #myanmarcoup

Re: #69 - Main news thread - conflicts, terrorism, crisis from around the globe
my immediate thought:
this has EVERYTHING to do with BRI/China and the corridor through Myanmar.
a 'wild ass guess':
the 'military' elite are in bed with Governorates and local business tycoons who want to see BRI happen... (lots of $$$ to be made)
the US/UK/India have been working 'behind the scenes' via NGO's etc to thwart progress
►stirring dissent internally against BRI using 'environment impact' 'China/debt slave' 'displaced persons' etc...
►putting pressure on Aung San Suu Kyi to drag her feet on BRI approvals
the corridor means direct access to Indian Ocean. pivotal piece and strategic to China.
'follow the money'

There are contradicting statements in the web.
It is not clear, whether the military or the politicians have closer ties to China. The former government had agreements with China about pipelines. But the military also seems to have ties to China and gets material and supply from there. The cooperate with China and Laos to control the drug production in the border region. They have trilateral police-military unit, that can cross freely to hunt down the drug traffic.
There is another point. The former government had an agreement with Bangladesh for repatriating all the fled Muslims. This agreement would have come into effect during this year and the Muslims could have returned.
Maybe China doesn't care, who is in control of the country as long as they have a good relationship and can use the pipelines and the connection to the Gulf of Bengal.

There is a strange thing. In China gambling and prostitution is strictly forbidden. But in the neighbouring North Korea they have built casinos directly on the Chinese border. And Chinese people can cross the border without a visa for 24 hours. Chinese people are addicted to gambling. I have heard horrible stories about people, who have lost everything. In these casinos Chinese people are working, but the money is going into the coffers of Pyongyang. North Koreans are not allowed there. The same thing seems to start now at the Lao-Chinese border, because China is building a railroad from Yunnan to Vientiane and many Chinese workers are there. The same is possible on the Burmese-Chinese border.

The NGOs have already stirred up the Thai students. It can't be a coincidence, that Thai students are demonstrating just right now together with Burmese expats in front of the Burmese embassy in Bangkok. There are many Burmese workers in Thailand.
Maybe the displaced Muslims are also involved.
Zambeezi wrote:►putting pressure on Aung San Suu Kyi to drag her feet on BRI approvals
This is possible. But I don't know anything about it. Maybe this woman was too close to China and too independent for Western money.

i think it goes w/o saying we can add US/UK psyop campaign(s) inside HK, Thailand, Myanmar, Viet Nam, Laos etc.Think Guaido, Navalny, Falun Gong, armed extremists in Syria. Calling these people pro-democracy makes a mockery of the term.

twisting valid 'dissent' within the populations to antagonize/oppose China progress.
Pro-Democracy is a 'cover' for Anglo-American policies.
My guess is that Myanmar military stepped in to thwart this 'soft' Western overthrow.

There is tremendous under-current across the Northern belt against the Modi Govt and in favor of Farmers.

Farmers across UP, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana are galvanizing and coming together.
They are planning Mega march towards Delhi in coming days.
Hence, Modi Govt is rattled.
Maybe Modi will use the military coup in Myanmar as a distraction from the problems at home.
