Badakhshan is the big problem now. Originally it belonged to the Northern Alliance. Now it is occupied by the Taliban. Southern Badakhshan is connecting Afghanistan proper with China. Russia and Great Britain had divided Badakhshan between Russia and Afghanistan to have a neutral zone between each other.  Northern Badakhshan is now a province of Tadjikistan. So, if the reactivated Northern Alliance (with the help of airstrikes from US or the puppet government in Kabul) can regain Southern Badakhshan = Wakhan corridor they have a connection to the Chinese province Xinjiang. The Northern Alliance are mainly Turkish Uzbeks or Turkmens, now supported by Erdogan. Xi doesn't like this, because these Turks could support Uygur terrorists. That was, what Xi was talking about a few days ago with Erdogan. Among the Turkish militants in Northern Syria, there are run-away Uygurs.

I think, the US withdrawal is not just a running away. They create a maelstrom to drag in Iran, Russia and China and put Erdogan in charge of it. By doing so, the Turks are driving a wedge between the Russians and the Iranians and support the terrorist Uygurs.
