I think, the author is confusing the opinion of the people and the official line of the governments.
The people are drifting apart, yes. Under Mustafa Kemal Turkey made a move towards Europe. Abandoning the Arabic script and the fez were just visible symbols. During the 1980s, many Turkish families came to Germany to work there. But then, several things happened. The backward Anatolians took over. The visible symbol was the scarf Turkish women were suddenly wearing in Germany and Istanbul. On the one hand this group of Turks took advantage of the liberal situation in Germany. They said it's there religious freedom to behave so. Mustafa Kemal would have been shocked to see and to hear this. On the other hand they complained about the German liberal situation. The Turkish families working in Germany could not educate their children in the authoritarian way, they were used at home. Because the children would run to the German administration for help against their parents. More and more decided to move back home to Turkey again. They had invested the money, they had earned in Germany in Turkey anyhow, they had got German school diplomas and could get better jobs back home. So, yes, the people have changed.
But the official line of the politics was different. Turkey was part of NATO to block the Soviet-Union, as the Ottoman Empire had blocked the Russian Empire before. EU never wanted Turkey in, but US wanted to have all European NATO members in the EU. So EU had an endless talk with Turkey. Yes, Turkey ignored the sanctions against Iran. US knew it, but ignored it, because they needed Turkey against Russia. Now under Obama this Neo-Ottoman idea was put into Erdogan's head. Erdogan could only do this, because he got permission from Washington. He overstretched his forces between Tunesia and Afghanistan, between the Caucasus and maybe now Ethiopia. Somehow I expected it, first Washington was encouraging him to be active on so many places and was taking advantage of, and now they abandon him. It is like the German proverb: Der Mohr hat seine Schuldigkeit getan, der Mohr kann gehen (The negro has done his job, the negro may get lost, Friedrich Schiller, Fiesco).

Iceland gives up fight against Corona: Herd immunity by contagion recommended
After Iceland is almost completely vaccinated, but more and more people are falling ill, the government has given up the fight and is going the Swedish way. People should infect themselves and thus achieve herd immunity.

I live with my elderly parents both 84 and Im finding Im increasingly avoiding areas where humans congregate inside ;pubs, clubs, football concerts etc, not that I will be allowed to go to any of these places shortly. I shop for booze, groceries etc now on line. My concern is the vaccinated not the unvaccinated give it two years and they will according to many experts be stacking them like cordwood but with spike proteins they will kill many unvaccinated.

Many/most in Zodland are European/Aussie and grew up with socialized medical care.... I never did.
Raising a family was always an exercise in 'self-sufficiency' for me. No 'health care', no welfare and cash only.
I would pull out a hundred dollar bill and buy bottles of Tetracycline/Penicillin/Amoxicillin
from the 'Pharmacia' across the border in Mexico.
Many, many families were in the same boat and we all shared what we had.
This may be a new experience for some of you as we plunge ahead. Just think 'black market' lol. cheers.

I don't know how it works in Germany, you can only get it (officially) with a doctor's prescription.

Helion says its approach to fusion energy differs in three main ways from other approaches:
►Firstly, it uses a pulsed fusion system, which helps overcome the hardest physics challenges,
keeps its fusion device smaller than other approaches, and allows it to adjust the power output based on need.
►Secondly, its system is built to directly recover electricity, while other fusion systems heat water to create steam to turn a turbine
which loses a lot of energy in the process.
►Thirdly, it uses deuterium and helium-3 as fuel, which helps keep its system small and efficient.
