I fully agree. NATO is not an alliance. NATO is US and their vassals. They have to buy US weapon systems. The next problem is, that US (and UK) are sea-powers, Germany and Russia are continental powers. To understand this fully, you have to read Thukydides about the Peloponnesian War. Thukydides explains perfectly well, how Athens (the seapower) is using the Attic Sea-Alliance, the exact counter-part of NATO during the 5th century BC, against Sparta and Persia (the continental powers). The same rhetorics is used for collecting the fees in the Alliance: "You should pay more for your defense, otherwise, you have to defend yourself against Persia (aka Russia)." Sea powers and continental powers have antagonistic interests. They cannot coexist. Sea powers have nothing (no food, no army), only money (this makes US a little bit special, because they could be a "normal" continental power, but they have decided otherwise). They depend on importing everything. They employ a special form of capitalism. They urgently need to destroy big empires, because empires are independent from them. They need to be connected to all the world for import and export. If they would be isolated, they would starve. They are an existential threat to empires. They "open up" empires for their trade (Japan, China etc.). An empire is no threat to other empires, when the empire has reached its natural form, within it is self-dependent and saturated. Empires can coexist. That is, why empires must destroy sea powers at all costs. China had to learn this the hard way. They have underestimated UK.
