That with the suitcases reminds me of the time when I was on my way with a baby carriage. The only people who helped me on the stairs were younger men "with a migration background", especially Turks, and older German women. No German men, no young German women, but no foreign women either. And that was 100% true. But I still don't understand why.

In Germany, when I am passing a door and a woman is behind me, I always ask her whether she is feminist or not, before I hold the door open for her. Because, if she is feminist, she has to help herself. Because I often had the situation, when I am polite, the woman is accusing me of machismo and lectures me, that she can do this alone. So I always make sure, what kind of person she is before. With a baby carriage, it's not necessary to ask. The situation is clear and I help immediately.

My experience so far has been that when a "dame" arrived in high heels and a handbag, the door was immediately held open for her. If I arrived with heavy bags, the door was shut in my face.

By the way, I don't care if it's a man or a woman with luggage, I'll help both of them, even "diverse" ones. Apart from "ladies" and gentlemen with briefcases, they can buy body servants.

Could be a cultural thing. In Romania young boys are taught to help in such situations. It's something society demands from them. I was always very surprised, when I helped someone in Germany, that they made such a big deal about it. In Romania, the lady would have said "Thank you" and that's it.

I wanted to share a little secret I found out recently.

Google is lying about it's results. It seems Google is a Potemkin-Search-Engine.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Search for a common term like "climate change"
   - Google shows it found 2.380.000.000 results
   
   
2. Scroll down to the bottom and click on the last possible result page (here 10) and repeat 4-5 times (page 14, 18,..) until you can't get further and see this message:
   
   
3. Click on the message "repeat the search with the omitted results included"
   
4. Now repeat Step 2 from above until you reach the final page again, this will take ~8 times scrolling down and clicking the last search result page. For me it stops at page 42.
   
   
5. If you now scroll up to the top of the page you will be surprised to find, that instead of ~2.4bn results Google in fact has only 416 results!!
   
   

You can try the same with e.g. "pizza" or any other word you like.

Edit: Also funny. Most results are from mass media or so. You'd expect there to be thousands upon thousands of blogs and private pages but there are almost none in the results
