In response Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid said
the move "would be a serious event with repercussions on ties" between Israel and Russia,
ordering the Foreign Ministry to devise a list of possible responses to Russia if it takes place.
After a leak of those possible steps, several Israeli officials warned that such moves
may lead to an escalation and ultimately undermine Israeli interests.

Zaharova, in response to Lapid's characterization of the move, said,
"I want to ask, do these people think that their actions and statements in recent months have not already affected our relationship?"

Zakharova added that the Israeli position, which she says was expressed via "anti-Russian statements ...
was aimed exclusively at the pro-Ukrainian side, and not in terms of the Ukrainian people, but solely in terms of supporting the Kyiv regime,"
characterizing Israel's position as "completely in line" with the "strange and delusional voice of the West."
