The Bulgarian ambassador to the USA experienced an early-term gift. He learned that his native Bulgaria is now part of the Russian Federation. How come? Well, his underage son (12) wanted to fly from Washington to Sophia. He had to change aircraft in Frankfurt am Main. So that the boy would not get lost, the Bulgarian ambassador booked a Lufthansa escort service in Frankfurt. Lufthansa refused to accompany them, as Bulgaria is part of the Russian Federation and they do not provide such a service for Russian citizens. The ambassador stated that he will not demand compensation from Lufthansa. But maybe Lufthansa knows more than has been published in the media so far?

Chile planning to open embassy in Palestinian territories

President Gabriel Boric of Chile, whose country has the largest Palestinian population outside of the Middle East, said that he planned to open an embassy “in Palestine.”

“One of the decisions we have taken as a government, I think we have not yet made it public... is that we will raise the level of our official representation in Palestine,” Boric said. “We will open an embassy under our government.”

Is there a term for how everything inevitably gets crappier over time under capitalism, due to companies always needing to increase their profits?

A company puts out a product or service that you like. At first, they focus on increasing sales. Eventually that slows down though, so they'll start focusing on increasing profit on each unit sold. They'll raise prices, but that has a limit, so they'll focus on reducing costs. They'll make it smaller, use cheaper and/or less healthy ingredients, cut quality control, reduce staff, etc. Inevitably, that product or service that was once good will get crappier over time.

There are a lot of things I loved when I was younger that are shadows of their former selves now. We have generally-accepted terms for other phenomena under capitalism, such as "planned obsolescence", but I don't know of a term for this.
