Older people always tend to long for the past, in "their"  days everything was much better, heard that many times.
Statistic is from 4/2022, that was right after the corona/covid  fairytale: masks - lock down - no outgoing like concerts
and the pub, the youth hates that.

Then came the vaccines with the side effects and now more and more people are becoming aware of all the lies they were
told by people they trusted like doctors, nurses and politicians. Lots of anger in people.

Everyone wants to go back to before covid when things were normal.

From a sentimental point of view, the 70s were the best for me. From a rational point of view, it was perhaps rather the 60s, at least in Germany, when a simple worker could build a house for three families with a lot of his own effort, without having to be afraid that he could lose his job at any moment and the house is gone.

I inherited the house and the government is currently doing everything to make sure that I lose this essential part of my pension. Then I can try to survive with 600 euros a month. And I'm not alone with fate. 

For many people, it is not just about the "luxury" of democracy, freedom and rights granted from above, but about bare survival. And for a youth with the perspective that they can no longer afford an independent life from the start, it doesn't look like shit just because of the leisure activities. 

The discrepancy in the valuation results from one's own financial situation. My daughter was amazed that other parents can finance an own apartment for their children. So there is also the question of whether one can afford priorities such as "democracy and freedom".
