Evacuations of injured Gazans and foreign passport holders through the Rafah crossing to Egypt have been suspended since Saturday, two Egyptian security sources and a medical source told Reuters.
One of the security sources and the medical source said the evacuations were suspended after an Israeli strike on Friday on an ambulance in Gaza being used to transport injured people.

The Rafah crossing to Egypt's Sinai peninsula is the only exit point from Gaza not controlled by Israel. Aid trucks were still able to travel into the territory, two of the sources said.

In tense discussions with Antony Blinken, Arab diplomats including Jordanian FM Ayman Safadi and Egyptian FM Sameh Shoukry pressed the US to actively pursue an immediate ceasefire to stop violence in the Gaza Strip.

Blinken was expected to brainstorm with Arab diplomats on the future of Gaza, home to 2.3 million Palestinians, after the war ends. Safadi sharply rejected these negotiations as premature.

“How can we even discuss what will happen in Gaza if we don’t know what kind of Gaza will remain?” he asked Blinken.
“Are we going to talk about the wasteland? Are we going to say that the entire population will turn into refugees?”
