I would add Putin's "I'll just leave this here" comment that US carriers in the Med are in range of Russia's Kinzhals, should those fleets do anything rash.

I think it was yesterday (or Wednesday) that Mercouris said the massive military build-up in the region "puts temptation in the way".

I have a copy of Threads, that I watched when it was originally aired in 1984. In that scenario, the conflict was triggered in the ME. There's a scene where the main characters are sitting in a pub and watching the BBC news, where pictures are shown of Russian paratroopers deploying in Iran.

Well, we're almost there. Decades of treaties scrubbed, diplomacy dead, fingers on triggers. Just needs a spark.

I have an urge to watch some old Tom & Jerry cartoons. You know, the really good ones from the '40s directed by Fred Quimby. Not the 60's cartoons, they were crap.
