Rumours about bank run tomorrow. Trump will try to go further with economic blackmailing. Erdogan can't release the priest (who is, very likely, what he is accused of, btw). If Erdogan would release him then S-400 deal is gone next. Turkey will be proved vulnerable. And I don't even mention disastrous impact on Erdogan's rating within Turkey...

This is possibility, indeed. With current attempt to sue US personnel on the airbase the closure of Incirlik for the US military is closer than ever. Then, the same could happen in Qatar, very important American base in the region...

Turkish lira targeted by Trump, action plan to soothe dollar volatility underway, Treasury Minister Albayrak says

The Turkish lira has been targeted by U.S. President Donald Trump himself, and Turkey has prepared an action plan to soothe its volatility against the dollar, Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak said late Sunday.

"We will implement a necessary fiscal rule if circumstances require," Albayrak added.

"This is clearly an attack against the Turkish economy," he said.

During Sunday's meeting, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also said that the fluctuation in the Turkish lira is a plot against Turkey, but the Turkish people will not give in.

Exactly this.

We've had the US here since the last world war. But would they leave if they were told to? I doubt it. It's essentially an occupation.

(As above, no offence intended to US members here)

Well, Erdogan has a long history of his bark being worse than the bite.

That's true. However, here is Erdogan's public support in stake. Plus relations with Russia, Turkish stream, S-400 deal. This is quite decisive moment. Not only for Erdogan or Turkey. But overall, for the world. Will American economic terrorism defeat NATO's 2nd strongest army or will Turkey dump globalists once and for all?

"This is not a new world, it is simply an extension of what began in the old one. It has patterned itself after every dictator who has ever planted the ripping imprint of a boot on the pages of history since the beginning of time. It has refinements, technological advances, and a more sophisticated approach to the destruction of human freedom. But like every one of the super-states that preceded it, it has one iron rule: logic is an enemy and truth is a menace." - "The Obsolete Man" - The Twilight Zone, 1961

"I assure you, ladies and gentlemen that, very soon history will show that we and our allies have fought a war on behalf of the whole world against terrorism supported by governments that will be held accountable by its own people..."
