Re: Protests in Romania
Romanian expats stage huge anti-govt protest in Bucharest
BUCHAREST, Romania — Tens of thousands of Romanians flocked to an anti-government protest from places near and far as local residents joined a demonstration organized by expatriates Friday, urging the left-wing government to resign and call an early election.
The expatriates supporting the event in Bucharest, some of whom drove across Europe to attend, said they were angry at how Romania is being governed. Critics say the country has lost ground in fighting corruption since the ruling Social Democratic Party assumed power in 2016.
An estimated 3 million Romanians live abroad, and some say they left because of corruption, low wages and a lack of opportunities.
“We don’t want our country to be governed by thieves who line their own pockets,” said Georgeta Anghel, 43, who has lived in Spain for 14 years. “If nothing changes here, what kind of future will our son have?”

Re: Protests in Romania
The corruption and poverty that encourage Romanians to migrate leave the country depleted of energy and hope
Romanians are now the second largest group of non-British nationals in the UK, following Poles. More than 400,000 Romanians live in the UK, more than double the number before 2014, when restrictions on the UK labour market lifted (seven years after Romania joined the European Union).
So why are Romanians fleeing? Despite the country joining the EU, which was expected to bring prosperity and a better quality of life, 11 years after accession Romanians are still running from poverty. According to Eurostat, more than a third of Romanians are at risk of poverty and social exclusion and almost half of the country’s children are borderline poor. More than 225,000 children go to sleep hungry, according to the charity World Vision Romania. The situation is desperate in rural areas.

Well it surely says something that Romania joined the EU and as a result would be net beneficiaries of the EU budget and STILL the country's situation gets worse. As always it seems, when there are corrupt governments then the presence of a big superstate government such as the EU does not do much to reduce that corruption, infact it only seems to grow.

This is not how an #EU country should look like. The repression of the Government at tonight's massive #Bucharest protest by using gas and water cannons on such a scale shouldn't be accepted. Gassing your own citizens in order to silence them is not the way forward. #Romania pic.twitter.com/YjIs4P4hO9

What I can find is that protests are backed by opposition parties as USR, with close ties to Soros and NGOs. Similar it was last year.

According this article, USR candidates are paid by Soros Foundation:

I'm not watching events over there closely so hint could be Romanian official stance towards Russia/Syria/immigration/EU etc.

Romanian government is socialist and very heavy pro EU and NATO. So this protests go in favor of Russia but Russians got nothing to do with them I'm sure. The protesters don't even give a damn about left or right either they just want better country and fight corruption. There was some law passed months ago that give immunity government officials against corruption and that's main cause for resentment. But in general they are just tired of bs and stagnation.

Interestingly anti-Soros webs link this protests with Soros quite oftenly.

Yes protesters are flying EU flags and succh but most of them came for summer to visit, these are expats and succh probablly filled with European dreams. I don't know the background could be Romanian government is turning east under the table or whatever bothers Soros.

Could be reverse psychology in action to give the protests negative attention.
Check this:
Romania is one of the European countries which is most oriented towards the Atlanticist geopolitical project. Despite its Orthodox Christian people, its elites always follow a strict pro-EU and pro-American course. The reason is very simple: it is a country where elites and civil society have been completely staffed by the US NGO's, particular by George Soros. The story of Romania deserves attention, because it is exemplary and shows how the methods of establishing Western liberal domination actually work.
http://katehon.com/article/soros-reign-romanian-example
Like I posted with the article last night, there are many Romanians who live in the UK now... NGOs subvert the institutions of countries such as Romania leading to mass migrations and giving rise to insecure social and economic environments for societies which the elites benefit from; that is the hallmark of the EU project. Current Romanian government has been in government/coalition-government for many years afaik and has overseen a lot of this sort of bullshit. However since they joined the EU it seems a case of whichever party gets into power they are always highly subservient to the globalist EU interests.

And it was easy for Soros cohorts to sow the ground since Romanians are not Slavs and they by default feel alienated in the area. They strive for ties with EU specially Italy. Its not like Bulgaria where people felt Soviet boot but nonetheless lots of population still grow fond feelings for Russia.

Romania – Pro-migration, globalist and with a full of understanding of the LGBT agenda, the Romanian “Right”, to reinvent itself after its historic defeat in December 2016, would have a hard time resorting to this “leap forward in identity politics” so harshly blamed by the lecturing Western press on the Hungarian and Polish right-wing parties. The Romanian “Right”’s nationalism, in all and for all, boils down to a warmed-over anti-Hungarian resentment, of which it had tried (on the West’s injunctions) to heal in the course of 1990-2010, before a very convenient relapse which occurred just when Viktor Orbán happened to be passing – from the Western point of view – to the “dark side of the Force”, and while its victorious Romanian competitor (Liviu Dragnea’s PSD) was beginning a rapprochement with Budapest and the local party of the Hungarian minority.

That's the way I was taking it from what I read, but ex-pat stirring of the pot makes me wonder if Soros is involved somewhere. Although it would also make sense if ex-pats want to oust the socialist gov't and get some business, etc. stirring so they can move back home.

I didn't knew much about it but my Romanian friend tells me so. Its also that Orban's Hungary is trying hard to form ties with Romania although both countries are on waring foot since middle ages and whole patriot/nationalistic movement in Romania is based on hatred towards hungary. Still V4's next big catch they are aiming at is bring Romania into the alliance.
