Zambeezi wrote:I want to give some historical background on Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The country currently known as Pakistan was basically split at one time between the Afghan Durrani Empire and the Sikh Empire.
The Durrani Empire ruled the northern parts of Pakistan and Balochistan (at one time they ruled all of Pakistan).
The Sikh Empire ruled the other parts of Pakistan and some parts of modern day India, basically all of Punjab and Kashmir.
The British were already making incursions into the Indian subcontinent through various means. They initially started this in 1620 or so when setting up trading posts. They also bribed local strongmen, hired local mercenaries to fight their battles and gain political and economic influence.
The British allied with the Sikh Empire to push the Afghan Durranis back.
As a result of that conflict, the modern-day-state of Afghanistan was created with its current borders
which bordered British India back then and Pakistan today.
The Afghans of course still remember this and this is why they don't really recognize their border with Pakistan
as a legitimate international border.
The British then went on to defeat and destroy the Sikh Empire.
The Sikhs never recovered from that humiliation and treachery of the British and from now on are basically under Hindu rule/control.
They never got their own country back.
It needs to be emphasized that the British did not overthrow or lead to the downfall of the Mughal Empire,
it was the Hindu empire, Marathas, who politically and militarily defeated the Mughals.
The British then destroyed
the Hindu Maratha Empire,
Mysore Empire (another Muslim kingdom in South India),
Oudh State (a Shia Muslim kingdom in Northern India)
and other smaller princeley states
to formally control all of the subcontinent.
All of this of course took centuries.
one more thing...
Mysorean rockets were an Indian military weapon which were the first iron-cased rockets successfully deployed for military use.
The Mysorean army used the rockets effectively against the British East India Company during the 1780s and 1790s.
Their conflicts with 'the company' exposed the British to this technology,
which was then used to advance European rocketry with the development of the Congreve rocket in 1805.
After the fall of Srirangapattana, 600 launchers, 700 serviceable rockets, and 9,000 empty rockets were found.
Some of the rockets had pierced cylinders, to allow them to act like incendiaries,
while some had iron points or steel blades bound to the bamboo.
By attaching these blades to rockets they became very unstable towards the end of their flight
causing the blades to spin around like flying scythes, cutting down all in their path.
These experiences eventually led the Royal Woolwich Arsenal
to start a military rocket research and development program in 1801, based on the Mysorean technology.
Several rocket cases were collected from Mysore and sent to Britain for analysis.
Their first demonstration of solid-fuel rockets came in 1805 and was followed by publication:
'A Concise Account of the Origin and Progress of the Rocket System in 1807 by William Congreve',[10] son of the arsenal's commandant.
Congreve rockets were systematically used by the British during the Napoleonic Wars and the War of 1812.
They were also used in the 1814 Battle of Baltimore, and are mentioned in The Star Spangled Banner,
the national anthem of the United States: And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air.[11]

Austria Will Not Pay Someone Else's Debts
https://sputniknews.com/europe/201810191069010951-kurz-austria-italy-budget
hahaha.. of COURSE you will.
The EU 'system' is fucking DESIGNED to bail out bondholders and bankers and disburse the debtload across ALL the tax payers via the EU currency. What did you think your country joined?... a 'trade' organization??? hahaha.
I like this guy... sometimes... not sure whether to 'trust' him. On immigration? sure.
when he recently met with Putin they discussed various issues and joint Austrian-Russo trade agreements.
Regarding Nordstream II here's what he STRESSED (3X) in the joint presser w/ Putin:
(paraphrased)
"We (Austria) support the Nordstream project... but ONLY if 'agreements' can be 'worked out' with Ukraine
on re-instituting the oil transiting networks and renewed efforts on the Minsk agreement."
I can find it if needed.... I was surprised that he was trying to leverage Putin with that. tru story bro.
