We have no idea just how many air raids have been stopped. Israel is not going to tell us.

there was a low possibility to start ww3 while entering into syrian theatre of operations. the risk was worth it because that is only Mediterranean base that russian navy has and only hot water base (beside crimea). problem with other bases is that they freeze in winter. other bases of russian navy can not be used through whole year. and if russian forces would be removed from syria than russian navy would have big problem travelling through Bosporus.
