The Russian Investigative Committee (RIC) has opened a criminal case against Tom Rogan, a journalist from the United States, who "recommended" Ukraine blow up the Crimean Bridge, Svetlana Petrenko, the official representative of the Russian RIC, said.

EU to protect companies against US sanctions on Iran

The European Union has launched a process under the legislation to protect European companies against US sanctions on Iran, demonstrating its commitment to the Iranian nuclear agreement.

The green light for starting the process was given by EU leaders at a mid-term informal meeting in Sofia.

"In Sofia we saw the expression of European unity. Until the Iranians honor their commitments, the EU will, of course, hold the agreement it co-created," said European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker. He underlined that the agreement, which was unanimously ratified by the UN Security Council, is essential for the preservation of peace in the region and in the world.

"But the US sanctions will not be ineffective. That is why it is our duty, the commission and the EU to do everything to protect European businesses, especially small and medium-sized ones," added Juncker.
