But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

So yes, US was very racist country till late 60s. At some parts of the country at least. And it does not matter if it was seen as normal back in the days. Slavery was seen as normal back in the days as well. It desn't mean we won't call it slavery because it is description by today's standards.

How quaint is that when people talk about slavery they only think about US and I rarely hear any mention about Europe where some countries abolished slavery around the same time or even later.
It only becomes a theme when it is convenient to push a certain political agenda.

But that was not my point. My point was we call slavery as slavery regardless the fact it was norm at the time of practice. It was counterargument to yours: "Labeling someone who lived 50 years ago racist using today's standards doesn't sound very professional to me."

"some countries abolished slavery around the same time or even later" - please example. Not sarcastic or anything. Just curious.

Gypsies were slaves in Moldavia and Wallachia until 1857
Portugal and Netherlands colonies for example. Netherland abolition in colonies was gradual over 10 years starting 1863
1814 - Netherlands bans slave trading
1819 - Portugal abolishes slave trade north of the equator
1861 - Netherlands abolishes slavery in Dutch Caribbean colonies
1862 - U.S. President Abraham Lincoln proclaims emancipation of slaves with effect from January 1, 1863; 13th Amendment of U.S. Constitution follows in 1865 banning slavery

"Slavery was eventually abolished in 1863, although slaves were only released after a ten-year transitory period in 1873.[5] This spurred the immigration of indentured labourers from British India, after a treaty to that effect had been signed between the Netherlands and the United Kingdom in 1870. Apart from immigration from British India, Javanese workers from the Dutch East Indies were also contracted to work on plantations in Surinam.[6] At the same time, a largely unsuccessful attempt to colonize Surinam with impoverished farmers from the Netherlands was started as well."

"A kholop (Russian: холо́п, IPA: [xɐˈlop]) was a feudally dependent person in Russia between the 10th and early 18th centuries. Their legal status was close to that of slaves.[1]"
". A kholop’s master had unlimited power over his life, e.g., he could kill him, sell him, or pay his way out of debt with him. "

Not as long as the west but still, just about one century short...

hmmm, what is your point? Slavery was ok because it was still ok somewhere else in the world? But how many Africans were sent to the USA for slavery?
was that ok for you?

US is last on the list.
Wonder why there is so many Africans-Americans in the US but not so many Africans-Europeans in Europe.
Slavery was evil and most of it was from African to the USA in the modern era.
Are you trying to say you cant call out the US for slavery because it happened in other places at other times?
A few days ago you were calling out China for the protests there and saying they were heavy handed and now you are saying??????

Where do you see I said slavery is or was ok???
I am just saying that we are not far and should watch our past first instead of attacking other for something our ancestors did as well.
There is racism today in US, there is in Europe and it is present most everywhere in the world being part of the human nature like violence, greed and others.
At least US didn't mass kill their black people like we, the good ol' Europeans killed the jews and gypsies.
It is something we all want to get rid of or we just say we want, but hiding the truth and blaming others is not the way.

Exactly - and I stand by it.
Digging everything someone says, inventing nonexistent associations, is only for political gain, not because they actually give a shit about it.

Was Obama labeled racist because he took pictures with Farrakhan?

I am not trying to derail the thread or deviate in whattaboutism here but just to point out hypocrisy. And with that I'm done.

George Floyd was a Covid-19 victim:

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2020/may/29/george-floyd-died-police-restraint-combined-health/

Preliminary findings from a Tuesday autopsy conducted by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner found “no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxiation or strangulation,”

Academician Arbatov advises Russia to keep distance in relations with China:
"We cannot go back and forth between extremes, from China being the world's greatest threat to it being our strategic ally or partner. One cannot play with such concepts. A strategic ally is when you are ready to send your soldiers to fight for the interests of your ally, and vice versa. I am confident that we don't have and will not have such a situation with China,"

Wasn't I saying something similar just a few days ago here?

Not sure why just one arrest - there were 3 cops kneeling on George Floyd:

https://www.nbcnews.com/video/george-floyd-arrest-video-shows-another-angle-with-multiple-officers-84081221791

"In a new video shot from a different angle, one can see how three police officers leaned on the detainee, while he, panting, asks for permission to rise to his feet."
