Partly yes, partly no. I am also against deindustrialisation, "back to the trees" is not an option. On the other hand, I think a reduction/stop of "nonsense production" and senseless transports, which only serve to generate higher profits, is urgently needed. I count the "tamagochi production" among the former; things are produced and intensively advertised/hyped which no one would buy without the hoopla. But also the planned obsescence - hardly anyone can imagine that washing machines or cars used to be a purchase for decades. For the second, I'll just give the example of crabs being transported from the North Sea to Africa to be crushed and then back again to be processed for sale. It should be clear to everyone that a lot of subsidies are involved, which is financed by all EU taxpayers. There are many similar examples.

But no one is really interested in this, because capitalism has only one goal - to generate profits, unless it is to generate even more profits. The fact that the costs are borne by those who do not profit or hardly profit at all makes the above an excellent business model. As long as this is going on, everything is being done up front and behind the scenes, but nowhere is an "energy turnaround" being initiated or anything being done in the direction of environmental protection. Regardless of whether there is any truth in "man-made climate change" or not. On the one hand, this stupid discussion serves to divide society, so that the rank and file get in a tizzy over this point - divide and rule. On the other hand, it serves to cover up the underlying causes.

It took me several years to recognise this mechanism, but since then I see it again and again in many issues. Be it the stirring up of resentment against East Germans or "lazy" Greeks, be it the refugee crisis or now Corona. Every time, the first priority is "divide and rule" and the concealment of the interests of capital on almost every issue.
