Gift from Ukraine explodes in Polish police headquarters
A gift received by the head of the agency during a working visit to Ukraine exploded in the Presidium of the Polish police. Police Chief Jaroslaw Szymczyk suffered minor injuries in the explosion and was taken to a hospital, the Interior Ministry in Warsaw said. A civilian employee was also slightly injured, but did not need medical treatment.
According to the Interior Ministry, the explosion occurred in the morning in a room next to Szymczyk's office. It was triggered by "one of the gifts that the police commander received during his working visit to Ukraine on December 11 and 12 of this year". There he met with the leadership of the Ukrainian police and civil protection. Szymczyks received the gift, which has now exploded, from a head of a Ukrainian authority.
