Russian T-14 Armata tank of the latest generation now in special operation in combat use

Russia's armed forces are now using the latest Armata main battle tanks to take Ukrainian positions under fire. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to a source familiar with the matter. Previously, tanks of this type were not used in direct attacks during the special operation. 
Since the end of last year, crews of Armata tanks have been undergoing combat coordination at the training grounds in one of the people's republics in the Donbass, it continues.

The T-14 Armata is the world's only tank of the third post-war generation. It was designed to conduct battles in the immediate vicinity of the enemy position, to support the offensive of the motorized rifle troops and to destroy the opposing forces. For the first time Armata tanks were used in combat conditions in Syria.

Another centuries-old constant of Russophobia is the belief that Russia is backward and, at its core, even wild and uncivilized to the point of barbarism. The stereotype is applied to the material-technological level of development of Russia in the same way as to the spiritual-cultural condition of the population. A regular side effect of this assertion is an obvious feeling of Western superiority and the belief that Russia must first of all make up for what the West has already achieved for a long time.

The conviction becomes visible in very different public discourses, whether it is about Russian social policy, about economics and technology or about the current war. If one restricts the view only to the latter topic, there are already numerous echoes of this stereotypical image of Russia: local politicians and publicists accused Vladimir Putin of acting like a "ruler of the 19th century" in the Ukraine conflict. It is regularly read that the Russian army has only "ancient weapons" left, and the defense industry will soon collapse without the import of advanced Western technology. Russia is also traditionally waging this war with mass instead of class, acting with "outdated doctrines". Yes, the Russian army – in contrast to NATO – is so unprofessional and barbaric that it gets nothing in the row except war crimes.

The stereotype of Russian backwardness is very old and has been able to establish itself historically only because opposing facts have been consistently ignored in the West. "Russia is like another world," Bishop Matvey of Krakow wrote in the middle of the 12th century in a letter to the French crusader preacher Bernard of Clairvaux. But the stereotype really took off only in the transition from the Middle Ages to the modern Era, when Europe began to form an identity as a separate cultural circle, which was mainly due to the separation from other cultural areas, explains the historian Christophe von Werdt.

"Russia played a particularly important role in this interplay of European identity formation and perception of the foreign. Because in his case, Europe was confronted with a 'foreign' Christian country that it could not colonize and that it could not culturally assimilate.“

South Korea and Germany follow closely behind, appearing in the top five countries in 20 and 17 technologies, respectively.

Australia is in the top five for nine technologies, followed closely by Italy (seven technologies), Iran (six), Japan (four) and Canada (four). Russia, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, France, Malaysia and the Netherlands are in the top five for one or two technologies.
