German farmers protesting means the shit is deep. You must know that the big money of subventions goes to the big agricultural companies, the hard working little farmers get nearly nothing. And the money they get for their products is also by far not enough. 

As I understand this is connected with the new "save the planet" policies and Greta Thunberg madness that EU is turning to. There are indications that meat could be banned in the future or more likely severly restricted on the tables of Europeans. In short, rich/elite and bored people who have everything sticking from their asses decided for all of us that going vegan is a smart thing to do. Our parliament just accepted law last week, about animals not just being objects but beings with feelings. They are slowly pushing the concept of killing an animal to be equal as killing a human and so on.
