Böhse Tante wrote:Something in our tv about a tv speech of the Queen this evening, in which she calls on the British to persevere and to iron discipline.
"We are in the preliminary stage of one of the greatest battles in history.... That we are in action at many points—in Norway and in Holland—, that we have to be prepared in the Mediterranean. That the air battle is continuous, and that many preparations have to be made here at home.
I would say to the House as I said to those who have joined this government: "I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat". We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many long months of struggle and of suffering.
You ask, what is our policy? I will say: It is to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us; to wage war against a monstrous tyranny, never surpassed in the dark and lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy. You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: Victory. Victory at all costs—Victory in spite of all terror—Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."
Something like that?

Found a very informative article in the comments. About how viruses or vaccines work and the hype on covid-19 vaccines. I think it is the minimum knowledge everyone now should have to understand what is going on.

The depression was already looming in the US/EU economies, success was mainly "windows dressing". Capitalism needs a war since years now. 40 years ago covid-19 wouldn't have done so much damage on economy. It only hits an already crumbling economy - the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Heartbreaking... NHS colleagues of midwife Lynsay Coventry, who died from coronavirus, pay their respects.
Her family said: ''She was a very well-respected midwife who supported many 100s of women as they welcomed their babies into the world.'

I must say I'm not convinced that it's "just like the flu". Why would China make a big fuss about this? To introduce more dictatorship or a police state?
But unlike here, they did everything they could to get the disease under control, and in doing so they simply acted as dictatorially as could be expected.
Here they try to bring the people more under control, which became urgently necessary because of the long expected economic crisis. In the face of the disease, the West is acting as stupidly as it was expected (for me).

I guess in my own, roundabout way, this is what I was trying to say earlier, that some took exception to. (understandable, as I do tend to lose my temper and rant)
It isn't the case that I say "fuck the government, I don't take orders" just for the sake of saying it. I say it because I detest the assumption by government that we are unable to reason and make sensible choices for ourselves, and therefore must be treated as children and punished if we don't do as we're told.
I'll stay away from the town because I will likely not survive this flu due to my poor health, but not because I've been "ordered" to.
The screw has been turned over the last few decades by successive UK governments, but slowly enough that people become accustomed to the increasing pressure.
Some may not agree, but even the smoking ban in pubs and clubs was a part of this. It was terribly destructive to our pub industry, with them closing down all over the UK due to people avoiding them and drinking with friends at home instead. Just 15 years ago the village pub was like a glowing jewel from the outside with the sounds of people laughing and joking inside, always a welcoming atmosphere to step into, same as anywhere in the world, I'd imagine. Now, villages are like ghost towns, quiet and dark and if the pub is still functioning, it is sterile and empty. Dividing the pubs into smoking / non-smoking would have been sufficient, instead the very fabric of our social centres was torn apart as the "Nanny State" stepped in and told us what was best for us.
Ok, I'm going off at a tangent a bit. Too much time stuck indoors!

In the UK and US, I have the impression that the government is lax or strict on whim, no matter how people react. Reminds me of my mother's education method - it leads to hatred and rebellion. But there is still the "obey without obeying" method - you carry out the orders, but in a way that leads to undesirable results. During my youth I became an expert in it.

The problem now is, if the government, that I don't like, is giving the right order? I do it, but not out of obeydiance, but because it is right. To do the opposite, just to disobey, is in this case childish.
When I was in school, I never understood, why my classmates always wanted to bother or torture the teachers. I did this only, if he was incompetent, but then I did it in a way, that he never dared to come back to the classroom.
If a boss in the job is giving me an order, that is complete nonsense, I obey to the last letter with devastating result and tell him: I have told you before.
I stayed at home weeks before I was told so, because I thought it is the right decision. My decision. Not theirs. I'm able to lead myself, I usually do not need advisers, except I have absolutely no idea about a matter, but that happens not very often.
Pubs are places where people can meet and remain relatively unobserved and could hatch ideas.
But that with smoking bans we have here too. Yep, Nanny State, but the nanny's only good to come up with prohibitions for us. In the past, she sometimes offered help, which she needs today for bailouts and subsidies for large corporations and major banks.

Instead they are used in a really sick way so that people are maintaining their own suffering from wars, hunger and illness. But it can not be changed "top-down", only in some kind of "grassroots revolution" or better "evolution" where more and more people work together to get rid of TPTB (whoever that is).
No need for a "big event" but development. One of my ideas to reach it: Don't play "their" games - don't use "their" rules - don't think in the box of "their" paradigms.
It's more "refuse" than "resist" - without too much ideology. You don't need to know much about "what's going on behind the curtains", it's mainly to create your own rules together with like-minded people.
That is what I mean with "I'm on the side of the people".

Today, Boris Johnson was admitted to hospital, due to his #COVID19 symptoms worsening. On March 1, all Johnson recommended Britons do is wash their hands, while singing happy birthday - no lockdown, no quarantine. We wish him well. pic.twitter.com/x45ywDL7eJ

Well, as much as I despise him, it would be inhuman of me to wish him dead. I guess I begrudgingly hope he recovers.
Then perhaps someone can do us a favour and put a bullet in his head so he doesn't suffer.

China's exports of key medical supplies rise to $1.5 BILLION amid global shortage of anti-virus gear https://t.co/Ih4piNsjrL When the dust settles from this mess, #China will be world leader, #Russia will be second, #US will be so far down the list that you can't see them.

Russia and China can watch quietly as the others bash each other's heads in over the deliveries.
