So far they are advancing really fast. It may be much harder once they reach the urban areas of Daraa city which are embattled for years similarily, as were parts of Damascus or Aleppo.

I'm back.

I can say for a fact that the media has been VERY successful in dividing the population of this country along political lines. People who I know that used to be what I'd call rational Liberals are now raging maniacs. I can say the same for Republicans. Being a Libertarian, I am sort of a mix - I'm fiscally conservative, but I feel the government doesn't belong in our personal lives. States should have more control than the Fed. Live and let live, as long as no one is harming anyone. Anyhoo, people here can't sit down and have a rational conversation about their opposing views. Conversations have become much like internet forums where trolls start throwing fits and shouting the rhetoric of their side.

All of that to say that I honestly am of the opinion that places like GLP, that used to be a place where thinkers hung out and discussed a full range of topics, are now full on political engineering. I am convinced that social media was created to further control the population. Many thinkers don't watch television, where the first wave of programming happened for the non-collegiate people. Social media crept into everyone's lives and the swaying of public opinion followed shortly thereafter.

Anyway, sorry for the rant - but I think the answer to your question lies somewhere in between the microcosm of the US public, and alphabet agencies feeding the population the information they want to influence them.

And I'm fairly certain there are leakers out there - they just haven't been outed yet.

Thanks for your perspective. Well, regardless of personal political positions I think that most of us can at least agree that enslavement, domination and deception are great evils which deserve our awareness of their existence. Unfortunately there appears to be some who don't agree and feel it's their birthright to rule over others.

No country seems to be unaffected, but it's rather poignant to see that the USA which is a country based on opportunity for any person to make something of themselves if they work hard enough to earn it, is increasing no longer seen to be the case whichever party holds office.

Harley-Davidson is a historic American company and I think is seen as something that rural Americans(the same people who voted for Trump) take great pride in seeing these high quality motorcycles which originated in America and still continue to by made in America.... until now that is. Lower courts had deemed the ban unconstitutional, but the US top court has reversed this decision in a 5-4 ruling announced on Tuesday.

The ban prohibits most people from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen from entering the US.

20th June was the vote for the EU's anti-internet freedom of speech measures. And it was approved (of course). Sounds, images, video, memes, and text could be censored if a breach of copyright is found. They also approved another measure where sites that simply provide a link to another site must pay a fee to the publisher.



According to the article it sounds like 'US tech' will be the arbiter of what constitutes a breach of copyright and what does not. My guess is there would be a 'hate content removal' feature added in the future as well if the tech is deemed a 'success'. Yeah, this all sounds like an brilliant idea doesn't it?  



It looks like there is a final vote next month in the EU parliament to be carried out by all the members.

Not very surprising that this step coincides with Trump's crackdown against Net Neutrality and boost of influence of NSA and multinational private internet service providers.
