As for the teachers bizarre performance, well, I was at school in the 80's , this was an everyday occurrence.

I have only just seen your post. Did something like that actually happen at your school? It's possible that something like that happens at some schools in Germany, but afaik it's not common here. When I went to school in the 60-70s, it would have been unthinkable.

Now some people might say "what's it to me, I don't have children".
