45 minutes ago, Russian ballistic missiles were reported as striking Kiev. The Mayor of Kiev, Vitaly Klitshchko, has said a children's hospital was struck.

Which either means something or someone important was hit and the Ukrainians are covering it up with some story or their air defense failed to intercept the missiles and fell on a children's hospital, or just as likely that whole thing is utterly made up.

During my studies, I had an internship in drug social work. This was a low-threshold project in an old factory building, where many street junkies could live, they could buy food cheaply, they got methadone and medical and psychological help. Later, there was another heroin outpatient clinic at another location in Frankfurt, where they could consume clean heroin under medical supervision.

For ~20 years there were almost no more street junkies, the procurement crime fell sharply, then the city neglected this work. Meanwhile, there are many junkies to be seen on the street again, although not quite as bad as in the early 90s. 

But I saw ~5 of the former clients here in the city district alone, cleanly dressed, well-fed and apparently they had an apartment and a job. These were people who were covered with wounds and eczema a few years before, they looked like they could not survive another 3 years. 

Perhaps there are hopeless cases, but for many it helps if you do not make demands on them that they are not yet ready for.
