The Brazilian interest is now becoming more clear. The new oil discoveries in the Takuto region are in the territory claimed by Brazil. So, the mobilization of the Brazilian forces at the border is neither to support not to block a Venezuelan move, but to secure the own Brazilian claim in case Venezuela moves into the Essequiba region. I don't think, there is a secret agreement between Venezuela, Brazil and Suriname to cut Guiana into pieces. I think, if one starts, all are in the game to secure their claims against each other. Problem is, US and UK are supporting Guiana. Also, it is not clear, what Venezuela will do. Just to hand out Venezuelan passports for the inhabitants of the Essequiba, would be interesting enough.

CARACAS/GEORGETOWN, Dec 3 (Reuters) - Voters in Venezuela rejected the International Court of Justice's (ICJ) jurisdiction over the country's territorial dispute with Guyana and backed the creation of a new state in the potential oil-rich Esequibo region in a Sunday referendum.

All questions passed with more than 95% approval, according to electoral authority president Elvis Amoroso, who said at least 10.5 million votes were cast for 'yes' but did not confirm the number of voters.

Maduro cheered the "total success" of the vote late on Sunday.

"The Venezuelan people have spoken loudly and clearly," he told a cheering crowd.

"We have to vote for the defense of our nation because the Esequibo belongs to us and we can't leave it to the gringos (Americans)" said 80-year-old retiree Carmen Pereira at a voting center in Caracas.

Uganda to borrow $150 mln from China after World Bank halts funding

Uganda is preparing to borrow $150 million from China's Export Import Bank (Exim) to help expand its internet infrastructure, the finance ministry stated.

This comes on the back of the World Bank halting all new loans to Uganda earlier this year in objection to the new anti-homosexuality law.

The money, the ministry said, is "to finance the supply, installation, commissioning and support of the national data transmission backbone infrastructure.”

Uganda is also in talks with Chinese export credit agencies SINOSURE and Exim Bank for a loan to finance the construction of a pipeline to help Uganda export its crude oil to international markets.

Judging by the death toll and images of absolute destruction it seems Israel is more than succeeding.

Russian forces continue to make incremental gains along the line of contact including in Marinka, southwest of Donetsk City as well as in Avdeevka outside Donetsk City;

Ukrainian President Vlodymr Zelensky announces Ukraine is on the defensive, an oblique admission that various Ukrainian offensives have failed and that future offensives are not feasible;

Continued admissions come from across the West of an inability to ramp up military industrial production and specifically in relation to artillery shell production;

FPV (first person view) drones are not an adequate replacement for artillery shells, however they have created dilemmas on both sides in regards to anti-access area denial (A2AD) capabilities;

Because of Ukraine’s ability to acquire even small amounts of artillery shells, FPV drones, and landmines, Russian offensives will require slow, methodical approaches focused on attrition to avoid large numbers of casualties and equipment losses;

Despite claims that Russia is already suffering such losses because of operations around Avdeevka, pro-Western “Mediazona” shows increased Russian losses, but nowhere near the scale Ukraine’s General Staff are claiming;

Yemen’s Ansarallah has attacked several Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea since mid-November, forcing them to take the more costly shipping route around Africa. This longer route could add 18 days to travel times.

Ansarallah announced on 19 November that in solidarity with Gaza, it would target ships carrying the Israeli flag, as well as ships operated/owned by Israeli companies.

How Brazil's joining will change OPEC+

Brazil has announced that it will join OPEC+ as of January 1, 2024.

In addition, it will not be subject to oil production quotas for the time being.

Thus, from next year the alliance will control not 46% of the global oil market, but by various estimates about 50%.

It is also interesting that a de facto alliance between BRICS and OPEC+ has been launched.

On the one hand, one of the founding members of BRICS has joined the oil alliance. On the other hand, Saudi Arabia and the UAE will join BRICS next year.

Brazil's production in September increased by 6.1% compared to August and by 16.7% compared to September 2022.

According to calculations of the Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas, the country became the ninth largest producer in the world and the first in Latin America.

NATO should be ready for direct war with Russia in 3 years - head of Polish National Security Bureau

In an interview with Nasz Dziennik, Jacek Sevier commented on the assessment by German experts that six years would be enough for Russia to prepare for a direct conflict with NATO after the freezing of the war in Ukraine;

He believes this assessment is "too optimistic": "If we want to avoid war, NATO's eastern flank should adopt a shorter three-year time horizon for preparing for confrontation. Now is the time to build a capability on the eastern flank that would send a clear signal of deterrence to aggression," Sevier said;

He also calls for a further increase in the size of the Polish army.
