People were dying because of neglected health care, because of psychological trauma, loneliness - especially elders. Theyy murdered thousands uppon thousands. And they counted them as so-called COVID victims.
I still hope subhuman culprits will end on lamp posts. Or worse...

Re: Main news thread - conflicts, terrorism, crisis from around the globe
Maria Zaharova writes:
I was sent a book «The Genocide of children in the territories of the USSR occupied by Germany». A book that cannot fail to startle you and to draw your attention.
The militants of the Kiev regime now continue to "prance" before the cameras of the Western media, flaunt Nazi symbols, doing so on the land literally soaked in the blood of Soviet soldiers, civilians, including children.
Not only the blood of Red Army soldiers was shed in Kursk, Zaporizhie, Herson regions, in Donbass and on the territory of Ukraine, once again occupied by the Nazis, only now sitting on Bankova... The Nazis carried out genocide of the population living there, massively killed civilians, teenagers, children, brought them to starvation, sent to hard labour in concentration camps and ghettos, inhuman "medical experiments" were performed (literally, not a figure of speech, a fact — they pumped the blood out of children).
Now the terrorists from Azov with tattooed "wolf hooks" and "dead heads" of the SS on their bodies are adopting not only symbols, but also methods from their "idols" from the Third Reich. Their crimes, for example, in Mariupol are well documented, and their names will remain forever tarnished, no matter what "rebranding" were carried out for them by the curators from London. These crimes, like a carbon copy, repeat what happened in these territories 80-85 years ago.
Today, more than ever, it is important to remember the history of the Great Patriotic War: both the exploits of Soviet soldiers and the crimes of Nazi monsters. And not just to know some general facts, but to study that period, read archival documents and memoirs of those who went through wars, those who went through concentration camps. This is especially important today, on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
The compilation consists, among other things, of previously unknown memories of victims of fascism, primarily children, those who survived the genocide during the occupation.
The book was prepared by the International Union of Former Juvenile Prisoners of Fascism. It collects and summarises the terrible, but most valuable documentary material, including testimony about the genocide of Soviet citizens in the occupied territories of the Soviet Union, archival documents, materials about the crimes of the Nazis and their henchmen.
By the way, it was the collaborationist policemen who often kidnapped children and handed them over to the Germans. Those who became glorified in Ukraine today.
I will give you some figures. Behind each of them is the unfathomable grief of millions of families, unbearable suffering and torment:
• According to various estimates, half of the total number of victims of the Nazis – 14 million people – are civilians;
• Of the 18 million concentration camp prisoners, almost one in six were minors;
• During the war, more than 2.5 million Soviet children died from the criminal actions of the Nazis and fascists;
• Only one in ten juvenile prisoners of death camps survived;
• Many hundreds of thousands of children who survived in the occupied territories became disabled.
I will quote from the memoirs.
Pyotr Danilovich Morozov, born in 1936, tattoo number 149759, from the Vitebsk region:
"...They strung a rope at a height of one meter and forced us to jump over it. This is how children's physical abilities were determined in Auschwitz. If you jump over, you will be sent to barrack No. 7, where you will live until the next check. If you don't jump over, you'll end up in the "bathhouse". We knew that people were being gassed there... I jumped over."
No matter how monstrously hard it is to read, everyone must familiarise themselves with these materials. To always remember and never forget.
All these crimes have no statute of limitations, the memory of the victims of Nazism is sacred.
We will continue to tell the truth, provide facts and evidence about both the crimes of Nazism of the past and the crimes of adherents of this terrible misanthropic ideology of today.

Huawei to Launch OS Without Android Support in October
Huawei will begin beta testing of the updated HarmonyOS Next operating system on October 8.
It will initially be available on the Mate 60, Mate X5 smartphones and MatePad Pro tablets, the company said. You can take part in the testing in the My Huawei app.
HarmonyOS Next firmware includes a complete removal of Android-based apps, making it the third most important operating system in the world after Android and iOS.
According to the company, HarmonyOS was used by about 800 million devices at the beginning of the year.
Huawei's operating system was included in the list of world engineering achievements of 2023 according to the leading journal of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
With its help, the company hopes to reduce its dependence on American technologies and avoid related sanctions.
Huawei also plans to replace the Windows operating system with HarmonyOS in future personal computers.

Re: Main news thread - conflicts, terrorism, crisis from around the globe
As the US provides another $375 million weapons package to Ukraine, including HIMARS, TOWs, and cluster munitions, the country's leadership (officially, at least) remains hesitant to send white phosphorus munitions to the Kiev regime, despite repeated pleas from the Pentagon, NBC reports.
So, what's the issue?
White phosphorus is a toxic chemical compound that ignites upon contact with air, burns at high temperature and is very hard to extinguish.
White phosphorus has been used in munitions since World War I. The substance has seen use in incendiary, smoke and illumination munitions.
Though the use of white phosphorus munitions is not banned outright by international laws, the use of air-delivered white phosphorus incendiary weapons against targets in civilian areas, as well as the deliberate use of white phosphorus incendiary weapons against civilian targets, is prohibited under the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons.
Despite that, the use of white phosphorus for military purposes by the United States and its allies is not uncommon:
Having previously used white phosphorus munitions in World War II and the Vietnam War, the US infamously used white phosphorus incendiaries in the city of Fallujah, Iraq, in 2004.
White phosphorus was also used by the US during its military occupation of Afghanistan.
Israeli forces employed white phosphorus munitions on numerous occasions both in the Gaza Strip (during the 2008-2009 conflict) and in Lebanon (both during the Israeli invasion of 2006 and during the recent border clashes that started in October 2023).
White phosphorus incendiary munitions were also used indiscriminately by forces loyal to Kiev during the Ukrainian conflict. One such instance was reported in March 2024 when a drone carrying a white phosphorus payload was used by Ukrainian forces against a town near the city of Energodar in the Zaporozhye region of Russia.

Re: Main news thread - conflicts, terrorism, crisis from around the globe
Vladimir Putin's announcement of proposed changes to its nuclear doctrine triggered a heated debate about the nuclear threat.
However, it appears that the current version of the US nuclear blueprint contains more risks and ambiguity than Russia's approach.
The US Nuclear Posture Review 2022 stipulates:
Preemptive strike. It rejects the principals of "No-first use" or "sole purpose use" (deterrence) of nuclear arms.
Deterrence of nuclear attacks. Use of nuclear weapons of any yield by an adversary of the US or its allies would lead to a nuclear response.
Response to non-nuclear attacks. A range of "high consequence strategic-level" non-nuclear attacks against the US and its allies could lead to a nuclear response.
Calculated ambiguity. The doctrine retains ambiguity as an element on how and when it may resort to the use of nuclear arms to create uncertainty in the mind of the country's adversary.
Nuclear umbrella. The US extends its nuclear umbrella to NATO members and other key allies, committing to the potential use of nuclear weapons to defend them in case of an attack.
US president's authority. The decision of using nuclear weapons rests with the US president.
Non-proliferation obligations. The US vows not to use nuclear weapons against non-nuclear weapon states that are party to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and in compliance with their NPT obligations.
Using whole might of NATO. The US exercises its nuclear deterrence in concert with its NATO allies to add "uncertainty and complexity to adversary planning".
Adversaries. It names nuclear powers Russia, China and North Korea as its potential adversaries.
NATO's nuclear policy echoes the US doctrine:
The alliance rejects "no-first use" of nuclear arms. It sees the strategic force of the alliance's nuclear powers – the US, the UK and France – as a guarantee to the alliance's deterrence strategy.
A significant attack against a NATO member state could lead to a nuclear response from the alliance should the fundamental security of the ally be threatened.
In contrast to the US, Russia:
Is committed to the "no-first use" of nuclear weapons;
Explicitly describes under what conditions it will resort to a nuclear response, avoiding ambiguity;
Exercises nuclear deterrence only against those powerful states and military alliances that names it a potential adversary.
Doesn't form any military blocs with other nuclear powers.

I have many friends in Israel. The vast majority of them understand that the issue of a Palestinian state must be resolved and that suppressing the natural rights of the Palestinian people is unacceptable.
…
Personally, I have good relations with many of my Israeli colleagues, including former ones. When speaking about the Middle East policy, President Vladimir Putin highlights Russia’s full commitment to security and fundamental interests of the State of Israel.
It is not for nothing that I mentioned the necessity of implementing the resolutions that require resolving the Middle East issues on a two-state basis, so that two independent and sovereign states, Israel and Palestine, exist as good neighbours, safely for each other and for the entire region. This essential approach needs no explanation; it complies with the interests of both Israel and Palestine.
We always stress in all our actions that no solutions are going to be viable if they fail to ensure Israel’s security, among other things, but not at the expense of the security of others.”
