Interesting thoughts from an atmospheric scientist, re: the west coast USA wildfires. He noticed that the high pressure increased over the smoky area, so the speculation is that the wildfires when they reach a level of intensity as has been the case recently that they start making quite a notable influence on the weather pattern in the atmosphere itself.
These height rises could just be a coincidence & be unrelated to the widespread aerosols in the ridge apex.

One way to test this hypothesis would be to run 2 identical NWP simulations, including real-time aerosol radiative effects in one. Would make for an excellent case study!
