Only exhaustion of men or material on either side will end it, as neither side as currently configured militarily has the capability of inflicting a knock out blow on the other. This is a very tragic situation for all involved. I suspect NATO planned it this way along a dialectic according to the theories of Von Clausewitz, who those in West Point and Sandhurst worship.

We said we would slow down and clarify when the situation had become clearer.
Well. We do not sugar coat anything.
We are announcing a major defeat of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine.
For the first time the Ukrainians have gone on the offensive
and they have beaten the Russian Armed Forces and they have won.

First this post will - with the attached video from the Russian Ministry of Defense to
translate what General Konashenkov said:
"In order to achieve the goals of the Special Military Operation,
a decision was made to regroup troops in the areas of Balakleya and Izyum
in order to build up efforts in the Donetsk direction.
Within three days, an operation was carried out to curtail and transfer
the Izyum-Balakliya group of troops to the territory of the DPR.

A number of distracting and demonstration activities were carried out with the designation of the real actions of the troops.
In order to prevent damage to the troops of the Russian Federation,
a powerful fire defeat was inflicted on the enemy using aviation, missile troops and artillery.

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federaion destroyed more than 2,000 Ukrainian and foreign fighters,
as well as over 100 pieces of armored vehicles and artillery in three days.

In general, the situation at 17:30 can be described quite simply:

1) Everything between the Seversky Donets and Oskol has already been abandoned or will be abandoned soon.
Volchansk is already being evacuated.

On the need to ensure the safety of residents of the Russian-controlled territories of the Kharkiv region.

Now all attention is riveted directly to the fighting, and rightly so.
But in the chaos of the unfolding events, it is important not to forget about those who in such a situation cannot stand up for themselves.

As we were told by the locals, civilians in Volchansk and other liberated cities were left to fend for themselves,
because the local authorities are confused and do not announce an organized evacuation.
Some of the residents are fleeing in panic, fearing the imminent capture of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and subsequent reprisals,
while others are waiting for instructions and simply do not know what to do, putting their lives at risk.

Now the civilian structures in the territories under our control, first of all, need to do the following things:

Organize an orderly exit of civilians from territories threatened by enemy capture.
Warn relatives living in Russia in advance so that they can meet them on the other side of the border.
Provide, in cooperation with the military and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, the supply,
as well as the accommodation of refugees.
Eliminate the possible seizure of documentation of departmental structures by the armed forces of the enemy. In other words,
take out or destroy documents.

It is not fear that speaks of this simple necessity, but common sense:
the situation at the front is changing rapidly and such measures must be taken prematurely.

While military personnel are doing their duty and trying to level the front line,
it is now more important than ever for civilian structures to do their job
in a coordinated and precise manner in order to save the lives of people who trusted them.
At the moment, the heavy burden of concern for the civilian population
has mainly fallen on the shoulders of volunteers.

We transferred our consolidated volunteer detachment from Balakleya, Kupyanskaya, Izyum and Volchansk
to the border with the Belgorod region.
Here is one of the PVRs. Refugees arrive here, massively leaving the Kharkiv region
due to increased shelling of Ukrainian nationalists. People leave with their families, many children.
There are now more than 400 vehicles at the border.

Our volunteers help with food, registration, accommodation.
We also help with refueling cars so that people can go further - to relatives or to TAPs in our other regions.

Here, on the border with the Belgorod region, 30 of our volunteers are already working.
We are strengthening the detachment with guys from the Young Guard and the Volunteer Company from other regions.

your concern is valid it is mine as well, however to be clear:
Kharkov (Kharkiv) is both a city and an oblast.
The Kharkiv oblast is containing many areas/towns/smaller villages that have been occupied/liberated by Russian forces for months.
They are being evacuated to the border with the temporary shelters near Belgorod. The pics r in post above^^
