The Religions With the Most Followers

Below are the seven most popular religions, based on Britannica’s analysis and estimates:

Note: These estimates provide a broad perspective on the distribution of followers for each religion, recognizing the inherent difficulty in accurately counting global adherents.
There are three major religions with over 1 billion followers: Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism.
Buddhism is also a big player, with 500 million followers worldwide.

It’s also worth mentioning that practically speaking, many of these popular religions have various sects, denominations, branches, or interpretations that they can be further grouped into.
For example, Christianity itself can be further categorized into denominations such as Catholic (50.1%), Protestant (36.7%), Eastern Orthodox (9.4%), Oriental Orthodox (2.5%), and other smaller Christian denominations (1.3%).

What Religions Missed the Cut?

Not captured in the above visual are many smaller organized religions, as well as folk and traditional religions, that are distributed all around the world.
Examples of notable religions that did not make the top seven list include: Taoism, Muism, Cao Dai, Baháʼí Faith, Jainism, Tenrikyo, Wicca, and Zoroastrianism.
Meanwhile, hundreds of millions of people also practice African traditional religions, Chinese folk religions, Native American religions, and Australian aboriginal religions.

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) announced that its agents shot dead a citizen of Belarus in the northwestern Russian region of Karelia on Wednesday, Telegram channel ASTRA reported on Thursday.
The FSB said that a man they identified as 49-year-old activist Nikolai Alekseyev had been preparing to blow up an administrative building in the Karelian town of Olonets on the orders of the Ukrainian security services. The agency also alleged that Alekseyev was a member of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and was on the wanted list.
In the FSB’s account of events, Alekseyev opened fire on law enforcement officers as they attempted to arrest him, after which he was shot dead. The publication says that an improvised explosive device and a pistol and ammunition were found in Alekseyev’s possession.
One of Alekseyev’s four sons confirmed his father’s death to independent Belarus news outlet Our Niva.
Alekseyev is known to have participated in protests against Belarus leader Alexander Lukashenko in 2020 and to have been critical of him on social networks.

Asbery Notes: I like many of you know videos highlighting painful L's suck but more heads need to roll. I don't blame the crew but the Navy has done a poor job IMHO. Floodlights, ngv/thermal optics, additional deck crew, HMGs on the rails. I'm no naval expert and these attacks don't influence the outcome of the war but while Russia is kicking Ukrainian tail right now there is still room for improvement.
