No military expert here, just commenting ... me think the RU air defense in Syria is going to concentrate on jamming rather than shooting down the hostile jets.

Yep I think looking at the F-35 record of crashes and mechanical problems i think it is going to be badly exposed by jamming and radars and we may even see it being escorted out of syrian airspace by the russian Sukhoi Su-35 destroying the stealth myth. All the S-300 has to do is shoot down any missiles fired by the F-35 or other aircraft and its reputation stays intact.
