Now I have to tend my fathers garden and that's not an allegory, that's my way of showing gratitude, and because I seem to do a good job, every year I'm given another section which I then maintain all year round. My parents are getting older and need support. In the beginning they sniffed at my "veggie sobsession", now they make veggie requests.. lol!

Sri Lanka's tea industry is declining rapidly. Production volumes of the country's main export has dropped to levels not seen for twenty years. The situation is primarily driven by anti-Russian sanctions.
According to Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe, the country's economy has collapsed. Sri Lanka was left without fuel: no one is willing to supply it because the local oil companies have huge unpaid debts.
Ordinary Sri Lankans suffering as famine spreads through the country. Our post introduces you to tea picker, Marimuttu. She works on a plantation in a central Sri Lankan province, where the most expensive varieties are grown. Before this crisis, her family only barely made ends meet, but now they're on the brink of having no livelihood at all.
